Նար. լե. մեկնում է «շան ուտելիք. լափ» (անշուշտ սպաս «թանապուր» բառից կարծելով), ՀՀԲ «շան կերակրոյ սպասող կամ յուսացող», ՓԲ «որսական շան նման կերակրոյ սպասող», Աւետիքեան, Մեկն. Նարեկի, Վենետ. 1859, էջ 194 «սպասաւոր կամ ծառայող որսորդի, որ է շուն» (ասպա-կանի+սպաս բառերից) և էջ 553 «շան պէս սաասող կամ ձիանց պահապան»։ Իսկ ես կարծում եմ, որ ասպականասպաս նշանաևում է «կերակրի մնացորդներին սպասող» և կազմւած է ո՛չ թէ ասպականի «որսորդ կամ շուն», այլ ասպակ «կերակրի մնացորդ» բա-ռից. ըստ այսմ ասպականասպաս ճիշտ այն է՝ ինչ որ Ոսկ. պօղ. ա. 459 «շունք սեղանոյն ասպակի սպասիզեն»։ ՆՀԲ ուզում է հանել ասպ «ձի» բառից
• կոչեն), եթէ սակայն ասպականի իրօք նշանակէր «շուն», ինչպէս ունի Պիտ. և ոչ թէ «որսորդ», ինչպէս ցոյց է տա-լիս Փիլ. որ աւելի վստահելի է։
