Discover our Index of Armenian Manuscripts, and meet us at Insaniyyat Tunis

Calfa released an index of digitized, available online Armenian manuscripts

Our new Index of Armenian Manuscripts lists Armenian manuscripts digitized and available in full access on digital libraries' websites. It compiles the main metadata available in the catalogs (dimensions, support, title, number of pages, copy date) and provides a direct link to the document. Most of the manuscripts are available via IIIF, and are therefore viewable with the Mirador viewer. The documents can also be directly annotated and transcribed with the Calfa Vision platform. Please note that the access to certain resources may require the creation of an account on the digital library.

We will keep this index up to date, adding the manuscripts when they are put online by the libraries, with the objective to offer a useful tool for researchers and professionals.

This work has been achieved with the precious help of Anush Sargsyan (Matenadaran) and Emmanuel Van Elverdinghe (UCLouvain).

A workshop by Calfa about OCR/HTR technologies for Arabic, at Insaniyyat 2022 at Tunis

Insaniyyat 2022 is an international colloquium in Social Sciences and Humanities taking place this week at Tunis. Baptiste, head of projects for Calfa, will present a workshop about the existing tools and the best practices for researchers willing to adopt or develop an OCR model, in the framework of a digitization project of a corpus. A focus will be made on the stunning performances of OCR/HTR in Arabic. Friday 23, from 2pm to 4pm at ISAMM (Manouba Campus).

International conference "Heritage Preservation for a Sustainable Future", National Library of Armenia

Celebrating the 510th anniversary of the first book ever printed in Armenian, the National Library of Armenia invited numerous professionals and institutions from the book sector to a large colloquium dedicated to cultural heritage preservation and to the future for libraries. Chahan will present Calfa's latest results in processing Mekhitarists' Armenian handwritings collections, and more generally our expertise in digitizing Armenian documents. Learn more (hy)

Lecture about the digitization perspectives of Armenian cultural heritage at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin (Armenia)

The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin organizes a conference about the Armenian book history, in honor of Vache and Tamar Manoukian Library 10th Anniversary. Chahan will talk along with cultural heritage professionnals about the future for books in the digital world, and the strengths and limits of its promomtion. Learn more (en)
